Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The student understands the age he is in, comprehends the concept of culture from all perspectives, understands the effects of mass communication on social life. This course also enables students to think critically about popular culture and its role in society.
Course Objective: To provide students with the basic cultural background to better understand and interpret today's popular culture, and to be able to define concepts and views related to culture and popular culture.

  1) Students do critical reading of popular culture products.
  2) Makes comments using cultural concepts.
  3) Gains knowledge about the origin of themes and characters that have become a part of daily life.

  1) Students generally discuss and criticize popular culture products.
  2) Perceives the data of popular culture correctly.

  1) They develop a new perspective towards their environment and the city they live in.
  2) By observing different events such as the Biennial, museums and exhibitions, students learn more about art, which is an integral part of urban life and popular culture, and interpret the events.
