Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students; Learns the basic principles of psychopharmacology. Gains knowledge about the effects of different substances on the nervous system. Learns the effects of different substances on emotion, thought, behavior and perception. Learns the interaction between different types of substances and neurotransmitters. Gains knowledge about addictive substances.
Course Objective: In the treatment, it is aimed to understand the team relationship, to use the drug therapy-brain interaction applied in psychiatric diseases, and the side effects that may occur with the use of drugs in the psychological evaluation and treatment process.

  1) 1- Learns the basic principles of psychopharmacology. 2-Has knowledge about the effects of different substances on the nervous system. 3-Has knowledge about addictive substances.

  1) 1-Discuss the chemical neurotransmission mechanisms that mediate the disease effect. 2-Discuss the psychopharmacology of drugs used in the treatment of mood disorders. 3-Discuss the psychopharmacology of drugs used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. 4-Discuss the psychopharmacology of drugs used in the treatment of psychotic disorders. 5-Discuss the psychopharmacology of drugs used in the treatment of memory and attention disorders. 6-Discuss the psychopharmacology of abused drugs. 7-Discuss sexual dysfunction and psychopharmacology of drugs used in its treatment.

  1) 1-Makes psychiatrist guidance. 2-Knows the mechanism of action of drugs. 3- It creates awareness about drug use. 4-Aware of the possible effects of drug use on the client.

12) Fundamentals of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder and pharmacology of drugs used in the treatment
13) Memory disorders, effects on cholinergic neurotransmission and pharmacology of drugs used in Alzheimer's disease treatment
14) Psychopharmacology of drugs of abuse (cocaine, amphetamine, phencyclidine, cannabis, cannabinoids, nicotine, opiates, alcohol) - Psychopharmacology related to sexual function
