Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: Students are expected to:
▪ demonstrate familiarity with key concepts and theoretical framework related to developmenal psychopathology,
▪ identify symptoms related to psychological disorders during childhood and adolescence,
▪ identify risk factors, aetiology and be familiar with the treatment techniques,
▪ demonstrate critical thinking
Course Objective: This course is designed to provide students with an in dept exploration of early maladaptive development. Emotional, behavioral and cognitive aspects of psychological problems during childhood and adolescence will be explored within the developmental scope. The course will touch on the aetiology, prognosis, risk factors, protective factors and intervention techniques.

  1) Students know the concepts and explanations about the course and treatment of psychological disorders within the scope of developmental psychopathology at a basic level.
  2) Students understand the etiology of mental disorders affected by genetic and environmental factors.

  1) Students formulate basic psychopathology in relation to the developmental thresholds and issues of childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
  2) Students apply current developments in clinical formulations and research planning at a fundamental level in order to understand genetic and environmental factors affecting psychological disorders in childhood/adolescence.

  1) Students discuss current developments in clinical formulations and research planning at a basic level in order to understand genetic and environmental factors affecting psychological disorders in childhood/adolescence.
