Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To learn the purpose and function of pathology in medicine, to learn and understand the basic cellular and molecular alterations underlying diseases.
understand the mechanisms of these abnormalities in diseases.
Course Objective: To understand the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological alterations and consequent clinical projections of basic pathologies underlying most diseases such as cellular injury,inflammation, immnünity, hemodynamic changes and neoplasia. To learn the role of pathology in diagnosis.

  1) Knows the basic practice standarts of a pathology laboratory and deiagnostic procedures.
  2) Recognizes the morphological changes due to cellular and tissue injury
  3) On the basis of basic pathology knowledge can comment on pathogenesis of diseases.
  4) Explains the etiologic agents cousing cellular injury and the body's response to injury
  5) Understands the principles of immunity and has a general idea on immunopathology
  6) Understands hemodynamic disorders and their affect on body
  7) Understands neoplasia and explains its etiopathogenesis
  8) Distinguishes harmful environmental agents, knows about the injury they couse and explains how to prevent them
