Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To use professional knowledge and skills in routine work by working actively in the Pathology Laboratory for 15 working days.
Course Objective: During the application, students during working hours; routine histopathological, cytopathological procedures and slide work alternately in the block archive.

  1) It is included in routine histopathological study (macroscopy, tissue follow-up, embedding, sectioning, HE staining, closure).

10) The performs the macroscopic sampling and identification of histopathological specimens at a basic level, with an expert pathologist.
11) It processor various tissue samples in a manual and/or automatic processor system. 3
12) According to the anatomical features of the tissues coming out of the tissue processor; embedded in paraffin with correct coding and orientation. 3
13) It uses a microtome within the framework of safety rules, takes sections from the paraffin block with the desired properties and thickness. 3
14) Prepares all dyes and auxiliary solutions used in the routine Hematoxylin-Eosin staining system, applies manual staining to all histopathological sections, checks staining under the microscope, detects the source of errors and solves the problem. 3
15) It provides a safe working environment in the intraoperative process, prepares preparations from biopsy samples and makes them ready for examination under the microscope. 2 3
16) Makes the appropriate choice between conventional histochemical staining methods to show various macromolecules of tissues.
17) Prepares the dye solutions to be used in conventional histochemistry methods and applies the methods, checks the staining under the microscope, determines the source of the error and solves the problem. 3 3
18) Immunohistochemistry applies FISH, SISH, CISH methods manually. Solves and records the problems that may occur as a result of the application, together with an independent or expert pathologist. 3
19) It provides fixation of conventional pap smear and liquid-based cervical cytology specimens. Starts and applies the painting process. 2
20) Makes macroscopic definitions of non-gynecological cytological samples, prepares preparations and performs fixation. Prepares and prepares the cell block. Starts and applies the painting process. 3 3
