Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To know the construction stages and laboratory procedures of complete dentures and removable partial dentures.
Course Objective: To be able to apply the laboratory stages of complete dentures and removable partial dentures.

1) Introduction to dentures (Complete edentulous and complete dentures ) anatomical structures related to upper-lower dentures, plaster model concept and custom impression tray making / Application: lower and upper total prosthesis custom tray production.
2) Construction of base plate and occlusal rims in compelete dentures, determination of relations between jaws / Application: construction of base plate and occlusal rim.
3) Articulators definition, classification, purposes of use and mounting procedure / Application:Mounting the models to the articulator
4) Selection and arrangement of artificial teeth in complete dentures / Application: Dental arrangement in the laboratory
5) Anterior and posterior tooth arrangement and waxing / Application: Tooth arrangement and waxing in the laboratory
6) Flasking procedure / Application: Flasking in lab.
7) Finishing, polishing the denture. and repairing / Finishing, polishing the denture. and repairing.
8) Description, terminology, impression and impression trays in removable partial dentures / Application: base plate,occlusal rim construction
9) Classification of partial edentulism, borders of the base plate in acrylic partial dentures, construction of the base plate and determination of inter-jaw relations, mounting into the articulator. Application: mounting models into the articulator.
10) Tooth alignment, waxing and flasking in removable partial dentures / Application: Tooth alignment
11) Components of cast partial dentures / Application: Fabrication of direct retainers
12) Components of cast partial dentures, surveying and model analysis/ Application: tooth arrangement.
13) Laboratory processing of cast partial dentures / Application: Fracture repair
14) Finishig and polishing / Application: Flasking
