Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To know the scope and basic features of Parental Counseling.
Course Objective: To know important subjects and concepts such as attachment theory in child development. To understand problematic behaviors in childhood and adolescence and to comprehend the relationship of these behaviors with normal developmental processes and mental disorders. Identify strategies that families can use to support their children's development.

  1) Students know the importance and scope of family counseling, normal and abnormal development processes in children and adolescence, and the role of the family in the development process.
  2) Students understand the basic strategies that can be applied in family counseling.

  1) Students know clinical interviews in parental counseling.
  2) Students evaluate the development of an individual.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Students know the language of family counseling and know the basic studies in the field.
  2) Students discuss parental counseling practices from an intercultural perspective.
