Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To provide information about prostheses, their indications, applications, modifications and possible complications; To ensure understanding of amputee rehabilitation. To gain the ability to plan and implement the appropriate treatment program for amputees
Course Objective: Amputation, causes and levels of amputation, partial hand and foot prostheses, prosthesis applications and component selection according to upper and lower extremity amputation levels, static and dynamic settings in prostheses, control mechanisms, gait problems seen in lower extremity amputees, early and temporary prosthesis applications, myoelectric prostheses , advanced technological prosthetic applications and amputee rehabilitation.

  1) Defines amputee.
  2) Recognize amputation levels and surgical methods.
  3) Knows amputation levels.
  4) Knows the selection of prosthesis according to the level of amputation.
  5) Knows amputee and prosthesis rehabilitation.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Applies the prosthesis to the amputee patient.
  2) Teaches the amputee patient to put on and take off the prosthesis.
  3) Teaches the amputee patient to perform daily living activities in the presence of a prosthesis.
  4) Creates and implements the necessary preoperative and postoperative exercise program for amputee and prosthesis rehabilitation.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Solve rehabilitation-related problems in the prosthetic rehabilitation team.
  2) Provides walking training with prosthesis.
  3) Teaches the patient how to use the prosthesis.
