Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: Ensuring that students who take Turkish Sign Language become level A1 and A2.
Course Objective: Knowing the linguistic features, history, grammatical features and deaf culture of Turkish Sign Language, it is aimed to redound a fluent speaking and understanding skill at A2 level, and to make daily conversations with deaf individuals possible.
The specific objective of the course is to train the students of Istanbul Kent University as experts who have reached the awareness of continuing their professional practices by adopting the "Principle of Equality", the rights of deaf individuals as stated in the "United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" signed by Republic of Turkey in 2009.

  1) Uses the Turkish Sign Language (TİD) alphabet during making sentences. Lists TID history, grammar and language features by comparing them with Turkish language. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  2) Uses greeting signs with Turkish Sign Language (TİD) Sorts the basic words with signs. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  3) Sorts the pronouns. Practices the sentences with basic words Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  4) Sorts the differences between Deaf Culture and Turkish culture and their reflections on the speaking. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  5) Can applies the words related to family members, professions, relatives with signs and making sentences. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  6) Speaks with the words of time, day, month, year and season; makes sentences, understands sentences. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  7) Can use opposite words in the sentences and understands the sentences. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  8) Can show the numbers from zero to trillion with signs. Can show the dates with day-month-year Can ask and answer 4-operating math questions with sign language. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  9) Can understand the words related to colors and animals, can make sentences and can understand sentences. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
  10) Can indicate the words related vehicles and foods with sign language, can make sentences and can understand sentences. Applies proper use of body position, facial expressions and lips.
