Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide the student with knowledge and skills about the basic knowledge and concepts of Public, health care systems, protection, maintenance and improvement of individual, family and community health, control of global public health problems, health education, consultancy services and public health practices.
Course Objective: To know the basic knowledge, concepts and principles of public health.
To know the basic dynamics of community groups and to be aware of their problems.
To know the public health practices aimed at protecting, maintaining and improving the health of individuals, families and community groups and to be able to use them in areas where community groups are served (school, workplace, home care, etc.).

  1) Knows the basic concepts of Public Health.
  2) Knows the changes in health organizations in the world and in Turkey.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Explain the health risks of disadvantaged groups and plan and implement their care
  2) List the indicators of healthy community and explain the importance of community diagnosis in public health.
  3) Cares about healthy lifestyle behaviors and knows the behavior change process.
  4) Defines family health and fulfills the duties and responsibilities as a family health worker.
  5) Knows the importance of early diagnosis applications and organizes health screenings
  6) Knows the characteristics of the population in our country and manages the acute-chronic health problems of individuals or community groups.
  7) Discusses changes in environment, climate, extraordinary situations.
