Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It is aimed to comprehend the course of risky labor, possible risk factors, intervention methods, risky postpartum period features and risky mother and baby care.
Course Objective: Students will be able to comprehend information about the stages of risky delivery, preparation of risky pregnant for delivery, follow-up in the first, second and third stages of delivery, interventions applied in risky labor, evaluation and follow-up of risky mother and baby, initiation of breastfeeding in the early postpartum period, and postpartum risky puerperal care. is targeted.

  1) Explain the duties, authorities and responsibilities of midwives in risky labor. Explain the concept of risky birth and the factors that cause risky birth. It can explain the life-threatening situations and the deviations from normal in risky labor.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Can apply necessary midwifery interventions by evaluating mother and fetus during risky birth process. In the risky postpartum period, he/she can evaluate the risky newborn and apply the necessary midwifery care. Evaluate the mother in the risky postpartum period and create the necessary midwifery care plan. Risky Be able to apply necessary midwifery interventions by detecting life-threatening situations that may develop in the mother in the postpartum period.

  1) Can compare the findings obtained as a result of the follow-up and evaluation of the mother and fetus during the risky birth process.

  3) Discuss the non-pharmacological methods that can be used to cope with the high level of anxiety brought about by the risky birth process.
