Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It is aimed for the student to comprehend the knowledge and skills necessary for the protection and promotion of reproductive and women's health in all periods of women's life.
Course Objective: Evaluation of reproductive health problems and affecting factors, women's health according to life stages in the world and in Turkey, protection and improvement of mother-fetus-newborn health in gynecological problems and prenatal, birth and postpartum periods, early diagnosis and treatment in cases where health deviates from normal. It is aimed to plan appropriate midwifery care within the framework of evidence-based approaches to provide rehabilitation and rehabilitation.

  1) It can explain the health problems that a woman may face according to her life stages.
  2) Explain the importance of midwifery care related to pregnancy, birth and postpartum period.
  3) Explain the importance and benefits of breast milk and breastfeeding for mother and baby.
  4) Explain the diagnosis and treatment methods used in gynecology and obstetrics.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) It can diagnose midwifery related to health problems that women may encounter in all life stages and create the necessary individualized care plan.
  2) Can apply disease-specific midwifery care in reproductive cycle anomalies, benign gynecological diseases, gynecological cancers.
  3) Can plan and create family planning education content suitable for the individual's needs.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Discuss the complications that may occur during the treatment of gynecological diseases and midwifery interventions that can be applied.
  2) Discuss the non-pharmacological methods that can be applied to cope with pain in gynecological and obstetric cases.
  3) Will be able to compare the measures to be taken for the protection of fertility and the evaluation methods of infertile women and men.
  4) Compare different methods and application techniques on pregnancy, birth and postpartum care, breast milk and breastfeeding.
