Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The course of normal labor, the stages of labor and risk factors, different presentations, labor pain and management (using non-pharmacological methods) skills, recognizing the active birth positions given to the pregnant woman and applying and following them in order to ensure the progression of labor, postpartum period characteristics and maternal and maternal It is aimed to comprehend the issues of baby care.
Course Objective: It is aimed that students will be able to comprehend information about the physiology of normal birth, its stages, the body's response to birth, labor pain, mother's preparation for birth, follow-up in the first, second and third stages of labor, evaluation and follow-up of the mother and baby, initiation of breastfeeding in the early postpartum period, and care of the mother in the postpartum period. .

  1) Explain the duties, authorities and responsibilities of midwives in normal labor. Explain the concept of normal birth, the physiology of labor and the factors that play a role in labor. It can explain the risky situations and deviations from normal in normal labor.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Can apply necessary midwifery interventions by evaluating the mother and fetus during the normal delivery process. Applies the necessary midwifery care by evaluating the newborn in the postpartum period. Evaluate the mother in the postpartum period and create the necessary midwifery care plan. Can apply necessary midwifery interventions by detecting risky situations that may develop in the mother in the postpartum period.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Can compare the findings obtained as a result of the follow-up and evaluation of the mother and fetus during the normal delivery process.
  2) Compare the findings obtained as a result of the follow-up and evaluation of mother and baby in the postpartum period. Discuss the non-pharmacological methods that can be used to cope with labor pain.
