Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to equip students with the ability to critically analyze media messages. Within the scope of the course, topics such as media production processes, representation, ideology, advertising, public relations, digital culture, and algorithms will be examined.

Students will understand that media content does not merely transmit information but also produces meanings, values, and norms. The course will analyze how media shapes everyday life, identity construction, and consumption behaviors.

The ultimate goal is to help students become conscious media consumers and responsible digital actors.
Course Objective: At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Analyze how media messages are constructed and within which interests they are produced.
• Examine the rhetorical functions of concepts such as “expert,” “scientific,” “natural,” and “trend.”
• Evaluate the reliability of the content they encounter on social media.
• Recognize visual manipulation techniques.
• Develop digital ethical awareness in their professional lives.
• Establish a conscious distance between media production and media consumption.
