Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To know the differences between the morphology of primary and permanent teeth. To comprehend the cavity principles of primary and permanent teeth.
To know the basics of preventive dentistry practices in pediatric dentistry
Course Objective: To know the differences between primary and permanent teeth.
To know and apply preventive treatments such as fissure sealant and local fluoride applications for pediatric patients. To make cavity preparations on primary and permanent teeth.
To know the basic concepts of oral and dental health of children, to understand the development of deciduous and permanent teeth and their developmental disorders, to understand the initial caries in primary and permanent teeth and to be familiar with treatment approaches, to know the dental materials used in pedodontics.

  1) Explains the morphology of primary and permanent teeth and the differences between them.
  2) Lists the cavity principles of primary and permanent teeth.
  3) Explains what to pay attention to during examination in pediatric patient. Explains the basic concepts related to the development of teeth. Defines the concepts related to the teeth eruption. Defines dental materials used in pediatric patients.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Performs preventive applications on primary and permanent teeth.
  2) Applies the cavity principles in the restorative treatments of pediatric patients.
  3) Diagnoses and treats dental caries in pediatric patients. Applies preventive dentistry practices to pediatric patients. Applies behavior management techniques to pediatric patients.

  1) While treating children, knows the basis of concepts such as diagnosis, treatment, and behavior management and uses this basic knowledge in the future of his/her professional life.
