Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: Due to industrialization in the world and in our country, there is an increase in the rates of occupational accidents and occupational diseases observed in workplaces. For this reason, occupational health and safety measures should be taken to ensure that employees work in a healthier and safer environment and to protect their physical and mental health. Within this understanding, the field of occupational health and safety has emerged, which Decrees interdisciplinary interaction and cooperation, and which has developed with the contributions of positive and social sciences such as medicine, law, physics, psychology. From a technical point of view, the elimination or reduction of the hazards faced by employees during the execution of the work constitutes the focus, while from the point of view of health sciences, the protection and treatment dimension from occupational diseases and injuries caused by work accidents comes to the fore.
Course Objective: To completely eliminate the risks in the workplace or to minimize the damages,
To protect and improve the health of employees in physical, mental and medical terms,
To protect employees from the negative effects of working conditions,
To detect emerging health harms, occupational diseases and to provide their treatment,
To enable employees who are harmed as a result of a work accident or occupational disease to work in appropriate jobs,
To determine and evaluate the degrees of damages caused by objective, scientific and ethical means,
To eliminate material and moral damages.

  1) Students who take the Occupational Health and Safety course have the knowledge and competence to protect occupational and worker safety by taking all the measures necessary to ensure occupational safety in the enterprise.
