Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: Introduction to Art, Design and Architecture II is an freshman year course which proposes to fundamentally change traditional pedagogical learning practices in the laboratory, classroom and studio. It aims to gain the manners and practice of experiencing urban interiors and building interiors with the body, seeing with a curious eye, reading and recording with questioning hands by leaving the traditional learning spaces. This course also seeks to establish a unique environment for direct communication with the (interior) architect of an urban interior or a building. With a seminar or an interview, it is aimed that the (interior) architect will share his design adventure, various actions and actors involved in the process, materials, building systems and detailing, his own design practice and office with the students, from thought to construction. From time to time, the (interior) architects also accompany the excursions related to their designs.

The course consists of two parts: Excursions to urban/architectural interiors and seminars/talks by the (interior) architects accompanying the excursions.
Course Objective: • To gain critical consciousness for architectural experience
• To gain critical awareness for architectural experience
• To gain the ability of discussion around a specific professional topic and theme
• To make students have an idea and position related to different perspectives in modern architectures

  1) The student will gain knowledge about different perspectives related to design practice.
  2) The student becomes familiar with creative people designing urban / architectural interiors and their works from Turkey.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) The student gains the ability to critically and creatively read and discuss, interpret and tell around an interior design.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) The student gains the competence of reading, interpreting and narrating an interior design in various scales belonging to his/her own discipline.
