Course Objectives: | Introduction to Art, Design and Architecture I is an introductory course to the thinking mediums of things. It is a narrative introduction to the profession and to the design education. The course aims to think, read and discuss creative productions in a diverse scale of from object to city, by associating them with different disciplines. Thus, students get acquainted a critical perspective and awareness to experience things. A theoretical, phenomenological, cognitive and aesthetic ground is built to encourage creative perception and intuition. Poetry, music, painting, cinema, drawing, photography and building trips, mainly appear as environments for creative and critical thinking, reading and discussion, and narration. They can be renewed depending on the course plan and theme every year. It is among the promises of the course that people from different disciplines participate in some weekly sessions to share their work and/or experts in a theme to discuss the works. |
Course Objective: | • To provide basics about design culture. • To relate architecture with various disciplines: painting, music, cinema etc. • To raise awareness of critically experiencing the ways of thinking about architecture. • To introduce students to the tools for thinking about artifacts. • To get the ability to argue about a design topic. • To provide students the ability to read, interpret and explain a creative production that he or she may encounter at various scales. • To create a theoretical, phenomenological, cognitive and aesthetic ground that will encourage creative perception and intuition about architecture. • To give students an idea about manifold perspectives related to architecture. • To associate design history in Turkey to the world. |
