Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To be able to take part in the surgical teams and to help the surgical team during the operation, to get to know the operating room with its technology and to gain knowledge.
Course Objective: To help the surgical team by managing all kinds of technological features of the operating room with the knowledge, skills and habits that the student has acquired.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) 1. Explains the physical and functional structure of the operating room.2. Knows the risks and dangers of the operating room and takes precautions.3. Distinguish and know the job assignment of the employees in the operating room.4. Recognizes, describes and knows the private use of technological devices in the operating room5. Classifies and exemplifies surgical instruments.6. Summarizes the rules for instrument control, maintenance and packaging.7. Explains the properties of sterile field and sterile material, storage and preservation protocols of sterile material.8. He tells the steps of verifying the identity of the patient, examining the file, preparing the patient and the operating table.

  1) 1. Can use the theoretical field knowledge in practice.2. Can use field terminology effectively.3. Be able to act in accordance with the basic professional legal regulations related to the field.4. He/she can use information and communication technologies in his/her field and transfer his/her professional knowledge through written and verbal/non-verbal communication.5. Express social, scientific, cultural and professional ethical values. 6. He/she can act in accordance with quality management and processes and participate in these processes.7. Can communicate in a foreign language at a basic level8. Depending on the developing technology, using different techniques, using new tools and devices.9. He/she can improve himself/herself personally and professionally by updating the knowledge, skills and competencies related to his/her field with the awareness of lifelong learning. To be able to use basic knowledge and skills related to the field, to interpret and evaluate data, and to identify and solve potential problems.11. Can work with other health disciplines.12. He/she can prepare the operating room for the surgical procedure.13. It can help the patient to be taken to the operating room and transported after the surgery.14. During the surgical procedure, he may be included in the surgical team as the physician deems appropriate. It can make surgical instruments and materials ready for reuse after surgery.
