Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To recognize individuals with cleft lip and palate and to explain the effects of DDY on speech development. To explain the importance of evaluation and treatment of speech, resonance and velopharyngeal function. And to explain appropriate intervention approaches. To discuss nutritional problems and treatment approaches.
Course Objective: To recognize the type of cleft lip and palate and its effects on speech and to determine the appropriate intervention.

  1) Knowing and classifying cleft lip and palate
  2) knows normal head-face anatomy, cleft anatomy and explains cleft anatomy and physiology related to cleft lip and palate.
  3) Can describe the language, speech and resonance features of individuals with cleft lip and palate.
  4) Can evaluate individuals with cleft lip and palate.
  5) Individuals with cleft lip and palate acquire the capacity to perform speech therapy individually.
