Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To explain the definition of speech and language therapy profession, national legislation regarding the profession, duties, authorities and responsibilities of speech-language therapist, ethical principles, theories and approaches. To comprehend the basic information about the application areas and study subjects of the profession.
Course Objective: To define the profession of speech and language therapist and to have information about the authority, responsibility and working areas. To know the ethical principles of speech and language therapy profession, the legal regulations and legislations in our country. To have information about the history of speech and language therapy profession and the studies carried out in the field until today. To define the concepts of communication, language, speech, sound, swallowing and know their components or stages. To have preliminary information about the types of disorders, assessment and application areas and applications within the scope of speech and language therapy.

  1) Students explain the general scope and content of the speech and language therapy profession.
