Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives:
The effects of the family on social life, family structures, family dynamics and effects on the child, the relationship between spouse and marriage and family system, communication in the family, life cycle; To teach conflicts, problems and solutions in the family.
Course Objective:
To know the basic features of family social work practice, to explain the roles and responsibilities and basic skills of social workers.

  1) Gains knowledge about the definition of family, family types and functions of the family.
  2) Gains information about family structure and transformations in Turkey.
  3) Gains knowledge of family life cycles.
  4) Have knowledge about marriage and domestic violence and family theories.
  5) Planned intervention process for family and institutional services for families gains knowledge on the subject.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Gains the ability to use theoretical and applied sciences in the field of family.
  2) Have the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with client systems and to use communication tools in the process of Social Work practice.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Carries out a study in the field independently by using the theoretical knowledge gained.
  2) Can critically evaluate basic and current theoretical and applied knowledge and skills in the field of family, identify and meet learning needs.
  3) Share his/her thoughts on the issues related to his/her field and solution suggestions for the problems with experts and non-specialists.
