Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: To evaluate about developmental psychopathologies.
Course Objective: To understand the basic assumptions and perspectives of the developmental psychopathology field. In this context, to explain the developmental basis of different mental disorders and the etiology of different developmental disorders. To have knowledge of etiology, epidemiology and diagnosis of different pathologies.

  1) Explainss the definition of child mental health. Explain the importance of child mental health. Explains the historical development of the concept of child mental health. Lists and explains the factors affecting children's mental health.
  2) Explains the concept of family. Explains family types and their effects on children. List the effects of unhealthy family relationships on the child.
  3) Lists parental attitudes. Explains the relationship between mental health and parental attitudes. Explains healthy parent attitudes and characteristics. Explains unhealthy parent attitudes and characteristics.
  4) Intellectual Disability DSM – lists 5 diagnostic criteria remembers the IQ scale Lists mild – moderate – severe intellectual disability characteristics Explains the risk factors of intellectual disability. Lists the differential and comorbid diagnoses of intellectual disability. Recalls the methods used in the treatment.
  5) Lists autism and related disorders. Lists the DSM-5 criteria for autism. Explains the etiology and epidemiology of autism. Lists autism comorbidities and differential diagnoses. Explains Asperger's disorder. Explains Childhood Disintegrative Disorder / Heller Syndrome. Explains Rett syndrome. Recalls the methods used in the treatment.
  6) Lists the DSM-5 criteria for stuttering. Explains the etiology and epidemiology of stuttering. Lists stuttering comorbidities and differential diagnoses. Recalls the methods used in the treatment. Lists DSM-5 criteria for Special Learning Disability. Explains the etiology and epidemiology. Lists comorbid and differential diagnoses. Recalls the methods used in the treatment.
  7) Lists Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity DSM - 5 diagnostic criteria Explains the etiology and epidemiology of ADHD. Lists ADHD comorbidities and differential diagnoses. Recalls the methods used in the treatment.
  8) Explains the concepts of marriage and divorce. Lists the reasons for divorce. Analyzes the reasons for divorce. Analyzes the things to be considered in the divorce process. Applies the counseling skills to be given to the family in the divorce process.
  9) Lists sibling relationship styles. Explains the concept of sibling rivalry. Explains the concept of sibling jealousy and its reasons. Explains effective parental attitudes in sibling jealousy. Implements effective suggestions in sibling jealousy counseling.
  10) Explains the development of toilet habits in children. Lists the excretion disorders in children. Explains enuresis disorder, etiology, epidemiology, subtypes, comorbidities, differential diagnoses and treatments in children. Explains encopresis disorder, etiology, epidemiology, subtypes, comorbidities, differential diagnoses and treatments in children.
  11) Explains the definition of conduct disorder. Knows the distinction between behavioral disorder and emotional response. Explains the causes of behavioral disorders. Lists the causes and solutions of fear - night fear and school phobia behavior disorders in children.
  12) Explains the nail biting, finger sucking and lying behaviors in the normal development process in children. Lists the causes and solutions of pathological nail-sucking, finger-sucking, lying behaviors.
  13) Explains the concept of property in children. Explains the reasons of stealing behavior in children. Lists treatment methods and recommendations for stealing behavior in children. Explains the characteristics of childhood masturbation. Lists the causes and remedies for childhood masturbation. Explains the causes of anger and aggression in children. Lists solutions and treatment suggestions for anger and aggression in children.
  14) Lists depressive disorders. Lists the DSM-5 criteria for depression. Compares the clinical manifestation of depression in children and adolescents with the appearance of depression in adults. Lists the treatment methods.
  15) Lists obsessive and compulsive disorders. Lists the OKB DSM-5 criteria. Compares the differences between the clinical manifestations of OCD in adults and children. Lists the treatment methods.
