Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The Communication Skills course aims to develop students' ability to communicate effectively in their personal, academic, and professional lives. In this course, students will learn the basic concepts, types, and processes of communication, thereby strengthening both their verbal and written expression skills. They will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience in fundamental communication elements such as body language, empathy, active listening, giving feedback, and conflict resolution. The course emphasizes the importance of communication at the interpersonal, group, and organizational levels, aiming to prepare students to be effective communicators in their professional lives. Thus, students will be trained to be individuals who can communicate accurately, clearly, and persuasively in professional settings, understand different perspectives, and contribute to teamwork.
Course Objective: The primary goal of the Communication Skills course is to enable students to express themselves accurately, effectively, and confidently in different environments. Within this scope, students are expected to consciously use verbal, written, and visual communication channels, identify communication barriers, and develop strategies to overcome them. The course also aims to strengthen students' empathy, listening, feedback, and conflict management skills. Thus, students will be able to take on a more effective role in their professional and social lives by adopting an open, respectful, and solution-oriented communication style in both their personal and professional lives.

Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Discusses communication concepts by recognizing communication processes.
  2) Explains the basic concepts, elements, and process of communication.
  3) Defines the characteristics and areas of use of verbal, written, and visual communication types.
  4) Explains the obstacles encountered in the communication process and their solutions.
  5) Evaluates the effects of cultural differences on communication.
  6) It analyzes the dynamics of interpersonal, intragroup, and organizational communication within a theoretical framework.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Understands interpersonal communication by recognizing herself/himself and her/his environment.
  2) Expresses oneself clearly, understandably, and effectively in different communication environments.
  3) Applies active listening, empathy building, and feedback techniques.
  4) Develops appropriate communication strategies in conflict situations.
  5) In written communication, it creates texts that comply with grammar, form, and style rules.
  6) Uses effective body language and public speaking techniques during presentations and group work.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Uses the principles of communication in bilateral relations.
  2) Applies the resolution methods of interpersonal communication conflicts to daily life.
