PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:

Child Development Thesis Master's Program; Evaluating and following the development of children and adolescents in the 0-18 age group who are normally developing, with special needs, acute and chronic diseases, in need of protection and under developmental risk by taking part in health, education and social fields, preparing and implementing a multi-faceted developmental support program is to raise expert individuals who empower families in the development and education of their children, and provide services to the child, family, educator and society. In addition, it is aimed to train child development specialists who can take part in research and application projects related to children, who can use technological and scientific methods and techniques, and who are committed to ethical values. It is aimed to provide the student with the ability to access information, evaluate, interpret, criticize and propose solutions, as well as the ability to conduct scientific research.

DEGREE AWARDED:

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Yüksek Lisans .

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

To graduate from Child Development or related undergraduate departments, to get at least 55 points from ALES EA score type.
To meet the application requirements of Istanbul Kent University Postgraduate Education Regulation and Graduate Education Institute.
Candidates applying to the Child Development Master's Program with Thesis; 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate graduation grade, and 30% of the written science exam or oral interview are listed on the basis of the overall score and are accepted within the quota.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

İlgili programdan mezun olacak öğrenci aşağıdaki şartları yerine getirmek durumundadır:
In order for students accepted to the Child Development Master's Program to complete their graduate education; A total of 60 ECTS-24 credits in the program must be completed with at least 8 courses, a non-credit seminar course must be successfully completed and the thesis study of 120 ECTS must be completed successfully.
In addition, the graduation conditions in Istanbul Kent University Graduate Education and Training Regulations must be met.
Master's students with thesis; In order to proceed to the thesis stage and graduate, their General Academic Average (GPA) must be at least 2.50.

The maximum duration to complete the master's program with thesis is six semesters. The minimum period to complete the course credit load in the master's program with thesis is four semesters. The student who cannot complete the credit load of the courses within four semesters is dismissed from the University. Student; Students can graduate in three semesters, provided that they complete the course credit load in the first two semesters and then spend at least one semester on thesis study.
Students who fail to fulfill the necessary conditions within the maximum period are dismissed from the University. The maximum time to complete the program is 6 semesters

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING:

It is carried out within the framework of the relevant articles (Articles 13-4) in the Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation of Istanbul Kent University.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATION:

Bilgi (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
1) Has theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of Child Development
2) Has the knowledge of comparatively evaluating and interpreting the accuracy, reliability and validity of the information gained about child development.
3) Has knowledge about statistical methods and techniques that can be used while carrying out a scientific research.
4) Knows ethical principles and rules in scientific studies, explains their importance for the individual and society.
Beceriler (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
5) Prepares and implements developmental support programs for typically developing children with special needs.
6) Uses, prepares and maintains tools, materials and documents in the working environment.
7) Using basic knowledge and skills in the field of child development, interprets and evaluates data on children's development, defines problems and produces solutions.
8) Selects the research topic in line with the problems determined.
9) Makes the necessary plans to carry out a scientific research and plans the research design.
10) Determines the most appropriate data collection methods suitable for the research subject.
11) Creates new knowledge by integrating her knowledge in the field of child development with knowledge from different disciplines and uses this knowledge for the benefit of children.
12) Analyzes and interprets a scientific study using their knowledge in the field.
Yetkinlikler (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
13) Fulfills the duties and responsibilities related to her/his profession in accordance with ethical values
14) Using the basic knowledge gained in the field of child development, she/he fulfills the individual responsibilities assigned to her/his within the team and works in harmony with the team
15) Determines a topic from the suggestions it has developed and prepares a report on this topic. Discusses and presents his research report.
16) Plans, performs, discusses and presents scientific research from start to finish.
17) With the awareness of lifelong learning, it determines the learning needs, and engages in learning activities by using the relevant communication and information technologies and written resources to reach the information.
18) Takes part in professional projects, research and activities for the social environment in which it lives with a sense of social responsibility.
19) Examines and evaluates the national and international literature on child development. Develops research proposals based on the literature studied.
20) Based on the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field of child development, it informs the relevant people and institutions, and conveys the solution proposals for the problems verbally and in writing.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES PRESENTED IN THE PROGRAM:

The master's program with thesis consists of at least 60 ECTS; It consists of at least 8 courses of 24 credits and a non-credit seminar course, as well as a thesis of at least 60 ECTS, a total of 120 ECTS. A student can enroll in a maximum of 15 credits per semester. Credit and evaluation are carried out according to the principles determined by the Senate.
The maximum duration to complete the master's program with thesis is six semesters. The maximum period to complete the course credit load in the master's program with thesis is four semesters. The student who cannot complete the credit load of the courses within four semesters is dismissed from the University. Student; Students can graduate in three semesters, provided that they complete the course credit load in the first two semesters and then spend at least one semester on thesis study. In case of disasters and epidemics, graduate education students who are at the thesis stage can be given an additional period of two semesters, one more semester, if they apply again, depending on the stage of the disaster or epidemic, with the decision of the Graduate School Administrative Board, these periods are not counted from the maximum period.

EXAMS, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION:

The final grade of the students is evaluated by the instructor with one of the following letter grades for each course they take. Issues related to graduate programs' attendance, conditions for being successful in the exam, course repetition, objection to the exam grade and correction of the exam result by the lecturer are carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Senate.
