PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:

This program; covering all practical and theoretical issues in the field; Providing children and adolescent patients with the ability to complete oral and dental health treatments at high quality with the application of psychological approach, basic and advanced behavior management techniques, performing complex dental treatments, correct intervention in emergency dental situations, preventive applications, and providing high quality service to patients in preventive orthodontics, In addition to providing all dental services in children with systemic/genetic diseases, it aims to train pediatric dentists who have adequate scientific background and understand the importance of lifelong education.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

1.To be a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry and to meet the application requirements of the Istanbul Kent University Graduate Education and Training Regulations.
2.It is obligatory to get at least 55 points from the central foreign language exams or an equivalent score from the international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted by OSYM.
3.Candidates must have at least 55 numerical ALES points or an equivalent score from the other exams whose equivalence is accepted by the Council of Higher Education to apply to the doctoral program.
4.In the evaluation of student admission an assessment is made by taking into account the ALES score, foreign language score, interview and undergraduate grade point average scores. During the evaluation, the ALES score is taken into account not to be lower than 50%.
5.Candidates applying to the Pedodontics Doctoral Program are accepted according to the announced quotas in order from the highest score. Success grade in evaluating student admission to the program is calculated by taking 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate grade point average, 20% of the oral and/or written exam score and 10% of the foreign language score. This total must be at least 65 points. In case of equality of points, the candidate with a high ALES score is preferred.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

In order to graduate from the Pedodontics Doctorate Program, it is necessary to achieve at least 3.00 AGNO out of 4.00, to successfully complete the compulsory courses and the required number of elective courses in the program, and to be found successful by the jury in which the thesis is defended.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING:

In order to be accepted to the institute, those who want to transfer from one of the institutes of another university that are similar to an institute of the university and whose equivalence is approved by the relevant board, have completed at least one semester of graduate education in the institute where the student first entered, have been successful in all the courses they have taken, and have been transferred to the institute. Students must have fulfilled the admission requirements for the graduate programs they wish to pursue.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATION:

1) Learns growth and development of craniofacial structures, abnormal and pathological structures in detailed.
2) She/he has basic and up-to-date information on Preventive Dentistry, Restorative, Endodontic-Pedodontic applications, Pedodontic Surgery, Preventive and Preventive Orthodontics, Child Psychology and Behavior Management Techniques
3) It integrates all the knowledge acquired within the scope of pediatric dentistry in the clinical phase.
Beceriler (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
4) Performs dental treatments in pediatric patients with a holistic approach.
5) Takes sole responsibility for dental treatments in pediatric patients.
6) Evaluates the accuracy, reliability and validity of the information, produces solutions to the problems specific to the field in the light of scientific data/evidence, defines and analyzes the problems, develops solution proposals based on research and evidence, taking into account professional and ethical values, shares information, and makes teamwork.
7) Uses information technologies related to health and research.
Yetkinlikler (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
8) Performs all dentistry practices related to ensuring oral and dental health in infants, children, adolescents and patients with special care needs, alone and as a part of the team.
9) Diagnoses and treats oral findings related to systemic diseases, syndromes, congenital and developmental anomalies in pediatric patients and takes part in the relevant team.
10) Prepares and presents written and oral presentations in national and international fields.
11) Conducts, completes and prepares the research project in accordance with scientific ethical principles.
12) Provides health education for children, families and the society by using the advanced theoretical and applied knowledge gained in the field of health.
13) Knows and applies basic and advanced behavior management techniques in pediatric patients.
14) Knows the ethical rules and legal responsibilities required by the profession.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES PRESENTED IN THE PROGRAM:

The Qualification of Pedodontics is obtained upon graduation from the programme Pedodontics, which requires;
1.Completion of all the courses designated within the curriculum of the programme, having a total of 240 ECTS Credits (including a thesis work of 120 ECTS), with passing grades,
2.Achievement of a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00 out of 4.00.
