PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:

Graduates of the Political Science and Public Administration (Turkish/English) Undergraduate Programme are expected to:

1. Pursue careers as managers, researchers, specialists, or policy professionals in the public sector, private sector, and civil society organizations by applying their knowledge of political science and public administration to contribute to strategic decision-making and public policy development.

2. Work in the fields of banking, finance, auditing, and regulatory oversight, utilizing their knowledge of political science and public administration to evaluate financial auditing and internal control processes while contributing to transparency, accountability, and sustainable governance practices.

3. Serve as public officials in central and local government institutions, undertaking responsibilities in areas such as international relations, public relations, human resources management, project management, strategic planning, and budgeting.

4. Operate effectively in international and multicultural environments by monitoring global political developments, analyzing the dynamics of international politics, assessing their implications for international relations, and developing evidence-based policy recommendations.

5. Build professional careers in the media, civil society organizations, think tanks, and research institutions as researchers, specialists, or strategic advisors, conducting policy analysis and contributing to social development, democratic governance, and civic participation through research and evidence-informed recommendations.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

Student admission to this program is made by ÖSYM according to central exams. Foreign students are accepted to this program with their internationally accepted high school graduation diploma and internationally valid exam results. The admission of exchange students is carried out within the framework of the relevant legislation of YÖK.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

İlgili programdan mezun olacak öğrenci aşağıdaki şartları yerine getirmek durumundadır:
Students must be successful in all of the courses in the curriculum within the relevant period and their GPA must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING:

Change of department, lateral transfer, admission of foreign students and exemption from previous courses are made within the framework of the relevant legislation.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATION:

1) Possess theoretical knowledge in the fields of political science, public administration, political history, economics, and law. Is able to compare these disciplines and express analyses effectively in written form. Monitors national and international developments in the field of Political Science and Public Administration and demonstrates knowledge of its fundamental issues and challenges.

2) Utilize the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Political Science and Public Administration to analyze, compare, identify, and interpret data, facts, and problems, and to develop alternative solutions. Is capable of applying both qualitative and quantitative social science research methods.

3) Develop a strong sense of responsibility toward society, the social environment, and oneself.
4) Conduct independent studies on issues related to the field of Political Science and Public Administration.
5) Employ effectively research methodologies, analytical thinking skills, and disciplinary knowledge in the field.
6) Demonstrate the ability to critically and objectively evaluate concepts, theories, and global issues.
7) Demonstrate awareness of the universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture, the preservation of cultural values, environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety.
8) Communicate analytical findings and research outcomes effectively through various formats, including academic articles, reports, and presentations.
9) Adapt successfully to professional, academic, and civil society environments.
10) Develop strategies and public policy recommendations through case-based analyses.
11) Possess the ability to conduct interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary analyses, establish connections among different branches of the social sciences, and communicate effectively in at least one foreign language at a level sufficient for professional purposes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES PRESENTED IN THE PROGRAM:

All of the work (theoretical lecture, practice, seminar, individual study, exams, homework, etc.) that a student must do in order to successfully complete a course is expressed in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
ECTS is a student-centered credit system based on the student`s workload. The student is obliged to take at least 30 ECTS courses each semester.
When the student graduates, the success status is determined by the ACADEMIC GRADE AVERAGE.
Success in a course is determined by evaluating the mean of the midterm exam grade and the final or make-up exam. In order for the student to graduate, he/she must have succeeded in all the courses with a minimum of 120 ECTS credits in the curriculum, and his/her GPA must be at least 60 out of 100.

EXAMS, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION:

Exams are evaluated out of 100 full marks. Year-end success grade is the grade obtained as a result of the sum of 40% of the yearly grade point average and 60% of the end-of-year exam grade.
