PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:

To train highly qualified dentists in a free environment with critical thinking to be competent graduates with high social awareness, who adhere to ethical rules, know their professional responsibilities, have high level of knowledge and application skills, and follow scientific and technological innovations.

DEGREE AWARDED:

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Lisans of .

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

To be admitted to this program, students are required to have:
• A diploma of high school or an equivalent school.
• Adequate grade from Undergraduate Placement Exam (YKS). Students are admitted to the program according to SAY (Math’s and Science) score in the framework of the principles decided by the Council of Higher Education.
• Language proficiency for English education.
International students are admitted to dentistry program according to success criteria determined by the Senate. For details, please refer to the Kent International of our website.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

İlgili programdan mezun olacak öğrenci aşağıdaki şartları yerine getirmek durumundadır:
Upon successful completion of all theoretical and practical courses and clinical training, and obtaining a minimum total of 300 ECTS, students are eligible to graduate. The success of a student is determined according to his/ her grade point average score (2.00).

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING:

Students can apply to be exempt from courses, which they have taken in another higher education institution or from an equivalent institution and completed successfully. Exemption requests, when necessary, are decided by the executive board and by taking the opinion of the lecturer who gives the relevant course.
The recognition of previous formal learning, vertical, lateral and internal transitions in Turkish Higher Education Institutions are carried out according to the “Regulation on Transition between Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Degree, Minor Degree, and Principles on the Credit Transfer Between Institutions” of the Council of Higher Education.
Exemption exams are organized by the University at the beginning of each academic year for the course of English language. Successful students are exempt from English Preparatory Program or the course of English language.
The students who can certify that they have passed one of the national and/or international foreign language examinations at a level determined by the university are entitled to begin undergraduate program in English Language of the Faculty of Dentistry.
Admission and registration of students who wish to transfer to Faculty of Dentistry from dental faculties of other universities, is determined according to the quota and requirements determined by the Council of Higher Education and to the associated rules of Regulations of Education and Examination of Dental Faculty. The courses that these students had previously taken and were found equivalent are transferred; students' adaptation to the education program are ensured by the Executive Board of Faculty of Dentistry.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATION:

1) The normal, abnormal and pathological structures and functions related to oral and dental health in detail.
2) The basic and up-to-date knowledge required by the dentistry profession.
3) The integration of knowledge from different disciplines in the clinic phase and to put their knowledge into practice.

4) Applying knowledge in a holistic approach in professional practice.
5) Evaluating the accuracy, reliability and validity of the knowledge.
6) Showing a systematic approach to diagnosis.
7) Delivering optimum care for patients with correct diagnosis and treatment plan.
8) Take responsibility for the use of all technological tools used in dental treatment.
Yetkinlikler (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
9) Conduct a clinical study or a project individually in the field of dentistry.
10) Take responsibility in planning and management of either routine applications or complex and unforeseen problems.
11) Participate in national and international academic studies by adopting lifelong learning, share and compare written, verbal and visual information with their colleagues.
12) Follow the evidence-based dentistry knowledge and use the up-to-date knowledge in professional practice within the framework of national values and country facts for the benefit of the society.
13) Use the information and communication technologies at the level required by the field of dentistry.
14) Take part and responsibilities in preventive programs at the social level, and ensure the protection and development of health by applying modern treatment methods with an approach that is patient-oriented, in line with human rights and compatible with the health economy.
15) Organize and implement social responsibility projects and activities.
16) Have proficiency in one foreign language at minimum B1 Level according to European Language Portfolio Global Scale, have written and oral communication skills and follow the developments in their field.
17) Apply the principle of entrepreneurship, business practices and processes with innovative technology in dentistry.
18) Are aware of the significance of ethical rules and legal responsibilities required by the profession.
19) Have knowledge about teamwork, leadership, risk management, patient safety, universality of social rights, social justice, quality management, personal development, environmental protection, occupational health and safety in the delivery and management of oral and dental healthcare services.
20) Implement the required practices in the clinic management, auxiliary personnel training, prevention methods from occupational diseases.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES PRESENTED IN THE PROGRAM:

• All the studies (theoretical course, practice, seminar, individual studies, examinations, assignments etc.) required for a student to complete a course successfully are expressed in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
• ECTS is a learner-centered credit system based on the student workload. Students must take 30 ECTS per semester.
• Level of success is determined by “ACADEMIC AVERAGE” when a student graduates.
• Level of success for a course is determined by evaluating the average of midterm exam and final/re-sit exam grades. In order for a student to graduate from the program he/she must pass all the courses in the curriculum with a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, and much achieve a GPA minimum 60/100.

EXAMS, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION:

The exams are evaluated over 100 points. End of the year success is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exams and 60% of the final exams.
