Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: Selections from World Literature, tüm disiplinlerden öğrenciler için tasarlanmış bir dünya edebiyatı genel bakış dersidir. Ders, klasik antik çağdan yirminci yüzyılın sonlarına kadar önemli edebi akımların gelişimini izler ve seçilmiş eserleri tarihsel, kültürel ve entelektüel bağlamlarında inceler. Batı kanonu, Rus roman geleneği ve Latin Amerika edebiyat patlamasından yararlanarak, ders öğrencilere hem önemleri hem de erişilebilirlikleri nedeniyle seçilmiş temsili metinler aracılığıyla çeşitli türleri ve dönemleri tanıtır.
Course Objective: • Identify major literary periods and connect them to their historical and cultural contexts
• Recognize key works and authors from the Western, Russian, and Latin American literary traditions
• Discuss how literature reflects social change, cultural values, and the human condition
• Read and respond to literary texts with greater confidence and interpretive awareness
• Appreciate literature as a mode of knowledge relevant to any academic or professional field
