Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: This course provides undergraduate students with a comprehensive introduction to the Short Story in English, covering works from the nineteenth century to the present. By studying selected stories by important writers, the course examines the various themes, narrative styles, figures of speech, literary devices, and historical contexts that have shaped their contributions to the short story genre.
Course Objective: To understand the essential elements of the short story and apply critical reading skills to analyze different texts; to make informed judgments about literary techniques and communicate interpretations effectively.
