Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It aims to understand socially disadvantaged groups, analyze the social, economic and cultural barriers they experience and comprehend effective social work approaches to these groups.
Course Objective: Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

1. Define disadvantaged groups and the main problems they face

2. Evaluate the solutions within the framework of social policies and human rights.

3. Analyze the policies implemented in different countries for disadvantaged groups.

4. Discuss methods of combating social inequality and discrimination.

5. When they encounter disadvantaged groups, they can approach with awareness with their behaviors and attitudes.

Learning Outcomes

  1) Define who the disadvantaged groups are.
  2) Can explain the social, economic and cultural problems experienced by disadvantaged groups.
  3) Can evaluate social services, social policies and support mechanisms for these groups.
  4) Recognize the processes of social exclusion and develop strategies to cope with them.
  5) Can propose solutions in line with the principles of human rights, equality and inclusion.

  1) Communicate empathetically, ethically and culturally aware with disadvantaged individuals.
