Course Objectives: |
Course Objective: The objective of this course is to examine how individuals present themselves on social media platforms, exploring the social and psychological origins of these presentations. The course aims to investigate how individuals construct their digital identities, the relationships they establish with their audiences, and how social media shapes individual self-perception. It also focuses on topics such as identity management, image creation, and perception processes in social media interactions.
Course Goals:
1. Understanding Digital Identity and Self-Presentation: Exploring how individuals present themselves on social media platforms, examining the social, psychological, cultural, and economic factors that influence these presentations.
2. Theoretical Framework and Approaches: Analysing how theoretical models developed around social media and self-presentation (e.g., Goffman's Theory of Self-Presentation) can be applied to the digital world.
3. Awareness of Image and Identity Management in Social Media: Discovering how social media users manage their identities and the individual and societal impacts of this management.
4. Awareness of Privacy and Digital Ethics: Recognizing important issues related to privacy and ethics in social media use and develop an ethical framework for behaviour in the digital world.
5. Examining the Social and Psychological Effects of Social Media: Investigating the impact of identity management and presentation on individuals' social, psychological, and emotional states on social media platforms.
|
Course Objective: |
Course Objectives:
1. Developing a Critical Approach to Self-Presentation: Encouraging students to develop a critical perspective on self-presentation on social media; to understand how individuals create images and construct their identities.
2. Investigating Digital Identity and Image Management: Students will gain the ability to analyse their digital identities and be aware of their social media usage. They will also learn online image management strategies and be able to organize their social media content consciously.
3. Conscious Use of Algorithms and Surveillance Systems: Students will become conscious social media users by analysing the effects of algorithms and surveillance mechanisms on self-presentation.
4. Gaining Awareness of Privacy and Ethical Issues: Students will learn to pay attention to ethical and privacy issues in social media use, enabling them to act within ethical guidelines in the digital world.
5. Analyzing the Social and Psychological Effects of Digital Self-Presentation: Understanding the social and psychological effects of identity presentation on individuals, particularly analyzing the effects on youth and communities.
These goals and objectives aim to provide students with both theoretical knowledge about social media and self-presentation and the skills to apply this knowledge in the real world. By the end of the course, students are expected to manage their identities on social media platforms more consciously and effectively, taking social, psychological, and ethical factors into account.
