Course Objectives: | The aim of the course is to examine the history of art and culture from antiquity to the 17th century through various works of art; To examine with an interdisciplinary approach how the relations between human beings and mythological "beings", gods, power and authority are reflected in the artistic dimension; More precisely, to subject various types of artworks such as architecture, sculpture, painting, film and music to a multifaceted reading with the help of various branches of social sciences such as history, politics and philosophy. Thus, it is an attempt to discover "what is behind the visible" by examining the details and knowing the cultural, historical and political processes. |
Course Objective: | Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to reach a fundamental and critical understanding of art. understand main currents in Western art history from Ancients to the 17th century.evaluate their aesthetic understanding as well as they will be able to experience aesthetic pleasure of sophisticated expression of thought and sentiment. evaluate how and why changes have become works of art historically. |
