| Course Objectives: | This course aims to equip first-year dental students with the fundamental theoretical knowledge of dental and edentulous oral anatomy and morphology. It introduces the morphology of tooth crowns and enables students to develop manual dexterity through tooth carving and basic laboratory applications. These form the basis for fixed and removable prosthetic treatments in a preclinical laboratory setting. Students are expected to understand the relationship between the form and function of teeth and to correlate occlusal anatomy and morphological knowledge with the fundamental principles of fixed and removable prosthetic dental treatments. They should also acquire foundational knowledge to serve as a basis for advanced prosthetic applications in subsequent years. The course also aims to provide students with fundamental theoretical knowledge of completely edentulous oral anatomy and related morphological structures, introduce them to the biological, anatomical and prosthetic principles underlying removable prosthesis fabrication in completely edentulous jaws, and enable them to develop basic manual skills related to complete denture fabrication through model-based applications in a preclinical laboratory setting. |
| Course Objective: | 1-The aim is to establish a theoretical understanding of dental anatomy and morphology, enabling students to relate the structural characteristics of teeth to clinical applications. 2-The course will also develop a clinical reasoning approach, integrating knowledge of the form-function relationship of teeth and occlusal anatomy with the fundamental principles of fixed and removable prosthetic treatments. 3-To enhance students` psychomotor skills and hand-eye coordination through exercises such as tooth carving, taking impressions, fabricating models and performing basic prosthetic laboratory procedures in a preclinical setting. 4-Prepare students for advanced prosthetic applications by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills related to edentulous oral anatomy and removable denture fabrication processes. 5-The course will also encourage analytical thinking in prosthetic dental treatments within an evidence-based approach and promote a sense of professional responsibility among students.
