Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The ultimate aim of this course is not merely to teach the philosophies of others, but to introduce students to the practice of doing philosophy itself.
The course is designed to provide insight into the views of individuals who are referred to as philosophers and whose ideas have resonated throughout the history of thought;
the subfields of the discipline of philosophy;
the general relationship between philosophy and science;
and, more specifically, the relationship between philosophy and psychology.
These constitute the primary objectives of the course.

  2) The student can understand the ideas of various philosophers, use these ideas as a foundation for their own philosophical inquiry, and develop original philosophical interpretations.
