Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It is aimed to teach what Art History means and the professional concepts and terms used in Art History.
Course Objective: The aim of the course is to learn various professional terms and concepts, methods, artistic developments, works, etc. related to the history of art.

  1) Learns the basic concepts and terms of Art History.
  2) Learns the subjects of study that fall under the scope of Art History.
  3) It can give information about architectural building types.
  4) It can give information about parts of architectural structures.
  5) Learns the differences and usage of terms related to Christian Art and Turkish Art.
  6) Learns about the tools used in small handicrafts.
  7) Learns what movable and immovable cultural assets are and the importance of protecting them.

3) Defining and explaining architectural building types (mosque, madrasah, church, tomb, inn, etc.) with visuals
4) Explaining the terms related to architectural building sections and the elements of architectural structures, covering system and transition elements and carrier elements with visuals.
5) Explaining the terms related to the building materials and techniques used with visuals
6) Explaining terms related to architecture (plan, section, survey, restitution, restoration, etc.) with visuals
7) Explaining the ornamental motifs used in architecture and small arts with visuals
8) Explaining the building types, building parts and building elements related to church architecture with visuals.
9) Explaining the concepts and terms used in Christian imagery with visuals.
10) Explaining the ornamental motifs used in Christian architecture and small arts with visuals.
11) Explaining the terms used in minor arts (carpet, miniature, etc.) with visuals.
12) Explaining the types of art and the branches of art that Art History is interested in by making the definition of art.
13) Briefly explaining the immovable cultural assets by grouping them according to their building types.
14) Briefly explaining movable cultural assets by grouping them according to their types.
