Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to understand the fundamental approaches in the sociology of education, the concept of education, and its social functions; to compare the functions of education in Turkey and around the world; to develop a sociological perspective on schools within the framework of the relationship between education and modernization in Turkey; and to equip students with the knowledge and skills to analyze both the problems and solutions within the education system.

• To compare the functions of education in Turkey and around the world.

• To analyze the relationship between education and modernization in Turkey.

Can identify problems within the education system and propose solutions. 6. Can approach schools from a sociological perspective.
