Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It is aimed to teach what Art History means and the professional concepts and terms used in Art History.
Course Objective: The professional language of Art History, its basic concepts and terms will be introduced. Students will learn the specific terms, building elements, materials and techniques used, and building groups used in architecture, painting, handicrafts, and Christian art, with examples.

  1) Learns the basic concepts and terms of Art History.
  2) Learns the subjects covered within the scope of Art History.
  3) Learns the differences between the terms related to Christian Art and Turkish Art, as well as how they are used.
  4) Learns about the tools used in minor handicrafts.

  1) Can provide information about types of architectural structures.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Learns what movable and immovable cultural assets are and the importance of awareness in preserving them.

3) Describing types of architectural structures (mosque, madrasa, church, tomb, caravanserai, etc.) and explaining them with visual aids.
4) Explaining, with visual aids, the terms related to parts of architectural structures, as well as the elements of architecture, covering systems, transitional elements, and structural components by providing definitions.
5) Explaining the terms related to building materials and techniques used, accompanied by visual aids.
6) Explaining architectural terms (plan, section, survey, restitution, restoration, etc.) with visual aids.
7) Explaining decorative motifs used in architecture and minor arts with visual aids.
8) Explaining the types of structures, building parts, and architectural elements related to church architecture with visual aids.
9) Explaining the concepts and terms used in Christian figurative art with visual aids.
10) Explaining the decorative motifs used in Christian architecture and minor arts with visual aids.
11) Explaining the terms used in minor arts (carpet, miniature, etc.) with visual aids.
12) Defining art and explaining its types, the branches of art studied in Art History, and archaeological excavation studies.
13) Briefly explaining immovable cultural assets grouped according to their types of structures.
14) Briefly explaining movable cultural assets grouped according to their types.
