Purpose and content of the course

Course Objectives: It is aimed that students have knowledge and skills about the basic concepts, rules and principles of first aid.
Course Objective: This course; It covers the basic concepts of first aid, first aid practices and patient care in cases of bleeding, injury, shock, trauma, poisoning and systems emergencies.
Mode of Delivery: Face to face

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Explains the basic concepts, purposes, and principles of first aid.
  2) Explains the theoretical foundations of basic life support (BLS).
  3) Explains basic anatomical and physiological knowledge related to the respiratory and circulatory systems.
  4) Describes types of emergency situations requiring first aid (e.g., injuries, bleeding, fractures).
  5) Explains the principles of ensuring scene safety in accidents and emergencies.
  6) Explains first aid principles in cases of bleeding, shock, and injuries.
  7) Explains basic first aid approaches for fractures, dislocations, and sprains.
  8) Explains first aid principles for burns, frostbite, and heat-related conditions.
  9) Explains access procedures to emergency medical services and the emergency response system (112).
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Assesses vital functions (consciousness, respiration, circulation) accurately.
  2) Performs basic life support interventions (airway management, breathing, and circulation support).
  3) Identifies situations requiring first aid and selects appropriate interventions.
  4) Performs first aid interventions for bleeding control and wound care.
  5) Applies appropriate immobilization techniques for fractures, dislocations, and sprains.
  6) Implements appropriate first aid interventions for burns, frostbite, and heat-related conditions.
  7) Recognizes shock and applies appropriate first aid interventions.
  8) Recognizes shock and applies appropriate first aid interventions.
  9) Performs first aid interventions accurately, promptly, and safely.

  1) Assumes responsibility as a first aider in life-threatening situations and emergencies.
  2) Adopts a lifelong learning approach to maintain and improve first aid knowledge and skills.

  4) Communicates effectively with emergency medical services (112) and provides accurate information.
  5) Communicates effectively with the injured/ill individual and bystanders.
  6) Works collaboratively within a team when necessary.
  7) Ensures personal and environmental safety in emergency situations.
  8) Adheres to ethical principles and professional responsibilities in first aid practices.
  9) Maintains composure and acts in a controlled manner in stressful and crisis situations.
